Welcome to 9th Grade Literature and Composition. I am happy to start my 6th year in Polk School District teaching 9th grade Literature to 8th grade students for high school credit and 7th grade Gifted/Advanced ELA. I am Kim Willis, a native of South Georgia with stops along the way in New Mexico, Louisiana, and Texas. I hold a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston-Downtown and a Masters of Education from Lamar University. I am currently enrolled at Kennesaw State University working towards an Educational Specialist in Secondary English.
I have two daughters, Sarah and Abbey; two awesome grandchildren, Kenleigh and Grayson; three Shiba Inu granddogs, Mieko, Yuki, and Maia, and Cash, a Shih Tsu; and last but not least, a wonderful "bonus son". All of my children are graduates of Kennesaw State University. I love to run/walk trails, read books by first time authors, watch football (Saints--Who Dat and SEC--Geaux Tigers), and watch HGTV type programs, even though I never plan on remodeling or building anything. I also seem to have a collection of fleur de lis items. Coffee is a big part of my life. In 2019, I added Sister Tia Maria of Florida, a Chinese Crested, to my list of things I love. You may see her on Facebook modeling her latest outfit.
This year as we progress through the curriculum, we can change our world as students develop a love of reading and find their voice in writing.
