Theme

Theme

The central message, moral or lesson that the author wants you to take away from the story.

  • Sometimes the author will tell you the theme. This usually happens at the end of a fable.
  • In other stories you have to infer or draw conclusions to discover the theme. Pay attention to the setting, characters, plot, problem, and the way the characters solve the problem. All these things can be clues that will lead you to the theme.
