Hello,
Welcome to my webpage! I am Amy Davenport, and I have been teaching in Polk County for 27 years. I have spent most of my years teaching at the middle school level, but I've also taught several years at the elementary level as well.
I am a graduate of Cedartown High School, Floyd College, and the State University of West Georgia. I am certified to teach pre-k, elementary, middle, and gifted education. I will be teaching the gifted classes at Westside, and I am looking forward to the upcoming school year.
I am married to Jimmy Davenport. I am the mother of three, and I am " Mammy" to Maston and Miles. My oldest daughter, Jean Marie, is a graduate of the University of Alabama. She is married, mom to Maston and Miles, teaches at Eastside, and she is the football/competition cheer coach for RHS. My middle daughter, Whitney, is also a graduate of the University of Alabama. She was recently married and lives in Birmingham. My son, Duane will be an upcoming junior at the University of Alabama as well. As a family, we are avid Crimson Tide fans. We love to go to the football games on Saturdays and yell "Roll Tide"!
I am extremely excited to be at Westside as the PEP teacher this upcoming school year. In my classes, students will be introduced to a rigorous learning environment to challenge and enhance their learning. Students will continue to develop critical thinking skills, as well as reading, writing, speaking/listening, and technology skills. Students will also have the opportunity to attend field trips which correlate with the curriculum the gifted/PEP program will be offering this year. Students can expect an atmosphere that promotes positive learning experiences to help them become highly productive, successful people in a technology driven world.
I want to thank each parent in advance for allowing me to be a part of your child's education. I can't wait to see those of you I know, and I am looking forward to meeting new people as well. I know the upcoming school year is going to be absolutely awesome.
Sincerely,
Amy Davenport
