Welcome to English/Language Arts! I have been teaching for fourteen years. I have taught thirteen out of the fourteen years with Polk School District. I am married to Ryan Evans, and we have two children, Faith and Brock. Faith is thirteen, and Brock is eight! I graduated from Pepperell High School in 2002, Floyd College with an Associate's Degree in 2004, and the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education in 2006. I continued my education with Walden University to earn my Master of Science in Reading and Literacy in 2006. Following that, I received my Specialist of Education in Reading and Literacy in 2009. I love learning, and I hope my students do the same! Our class is student-centered with many project-based and collaborative lessons focused on the ELA Georgia Standards of Excellence!
My Philosophy of Education-It is important to me that students learn that hard work pays off. As we learn how to meet each standard in English/Language Arts, students develop perseverance, an improved self-esteem, and a greater understanding of themselves as students. As an educator, my goal and mission is to foster a love of learning and to help students learn to enjoy reading and writing as a lifetime hobby! Students learn how to read for understanding and write for explaining, arguing a point of view, and extending a story after reading texts on a topic. It is my personal goal that students are prepared to read and write at the next level by the end of the school year.
