I am so excited for another great year at Cherokee Elementary! The 2019-2020 school year will be my fourth year as an educator. I am a 2016 graduate of Jacksonville State University. There I received a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I completed my first year of teaching at Van Wert Elementary School teaching 4th grade. I taught first grade the past two years here at Cherokee. Although I am new to fifth grade, I look forward to the exciting change. Science is my absolute favorite subject and I hope to help my students love it as much as I do! I love hands-on learning and plan to incorporate as much of it in our curriculum as possible!
I married my high school sweetheart, Andrew, five years ago. We welcomed our first child into the world this past May. Her name is Kambrie and she has brought so much joy to our lives! We also are big animal lovers and have five fur babies to love- three dogs ans two cats. Outside of work, I love spending time with my daughter, Andrew, family, and friends. I also love to travel and be outdoors! Some of my favorite activities are kayaking, swimming, hiking, and horseback riding. I enjoy going to church and my faith is a big part of who I am.
One of my favorite quotes by George Evans is, “Every student can learn. Just not on the same day, or in the same way.” As an educator, I understand that all children have different needs and learning styles. I will always do my best to meet various accommodations for all my students. I will strive to create a learning environment that is positive, safe, and welcoming!
