Parents of Students with Disabilities: 

Beginning Wednesday, March 18th, students with IEPs who receive their special education services in the general curriculum (inclusion or small group classrooms) will be able to access support from special education teachers online. The attached excel spreadsheet on the PSD website is organized by school and lists the teachers who will be supporting each grade level and/or content area. The spreadsheet includes the email address for each teacher. Parents or students may contact each teacher to request the link they will need to access the online classroom. These online classrooms are a starting point for meeting the needs of our students. Should parents or students need additional support, please let your case manager or your school’s department chair know so we can work collaboratively to determine appropriate supports.

We recognize that many families may not have access to internet or technology. Case managers are in the process of calling and emailing families for the students on their caseload to discuss various options for support.

In addition, special education teachers for students on a modified curriculum are also in the process of reaching out to the families of students they serve. It is our goal to ensure students have access to support for the Unique Curriculum learning packets students in these classes have been provided.

We invite all parents of students receiving Speech and Language services to join our new Facebook page Polk School District Speech Therapy Resources. This page will include resources parents can use at home to assist with your child’s language and communication needs. Speech and Language Pathologists will be posting information about apps as well as other helpful tools as we navigate the next few weeks. Check frequently for new resources to be added.
