Rising 9th Grade Registration

High school registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be held January 26 and 27, by appointment, at both Cedartown and Rockmart Middle Schools. Letters have been distributed to current 8th graders detailing his or her appointment day/time. During the meeting, advisors will provide information to assist with the course selection process, as well as, answer any questions you may have. The following links are for documents that will be reviewed. Should you have any additional questions, please contact your respective school to speak with a counselor.

Rockmart Middle School Students entered the annual DAR American History Essay Contest sponsored by the James Waldrop Chapter in Fayette County, Georgia.  The contest is open to students in the 5th-8th grades in the surrounding areas.  Rockmart Middle swept the competition for the 8th grade division.  Sara Carlton placed 1st, Isaac Gober placed 2nd, and Neely Collum placed 3rd, each earning cash prizes.  Sara Carlton's winning essay is now on its way to compete for the entire GA Central West District.

UPDATE:

On Saturday, December 3, 2016 the Northside Elementary DawgBots participated in the West Georgia First Lego League Regional Competition at Haralson County Middle School.  The DawgBots received a trophy for first place in robot design at this event. This award can be seen at Northside Elementary School in the trophy case next to the DawgBots 2016 team shirt. Northside is so proud of all the hard work these students have shown getting prepared for this competition. The Northside DawgBots are looking forward to attending this event again next year and to other opportunities in the future.

Early Dismissal on 1/06/2017

**EARLY DISMISSAL**

Good Evening Parents and Students, due to the threat of inclement weather tomorrow (1/06/2017), Polk School District will operate on a half-day schedule for all faculty, staff and students. Individual schools will dismiss at the same times they did on December 17th leading into the Christmas holidays. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Move On When Ready Meeting

If your 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student is interested in earning college credit while in high school, please make plans to attend our Move On When Ready parent meeting on Monday, September 26 at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, Rockmart Campus. There will be two sessions for your convenience at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Upcoming testing opportunities and registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be discussed. Representatives from Georgia Highlands and Georgia Northwestern will also be present. We hope to see you there.

Insure your iPad!

iPad insurance can be purchased at Middle and High schools for students that did not purchase insurance for the summer. Cost is $32 for coverage until June 1, 2017. Deadline for purchasing insurance is September 9, 2016.  This date is firm due to contract agreement with the insurance company. All staff and students can purchase insurance from the Mobile Minds Specialist at your school. Cost of iPad repair without insurance is $50 per incident. Don't forget to have a cover for your iPad. See your Mobile Minds Specialist, Counselor, or Office staff for your grade level model.
